What really annoys me about the radio itself (X20/S specifically) is the module bay, and FrSky's BS line about "FrSky welcomes working compatibility with the 3rd party products with their own developed technology following FrSky verified 3rd party compatibility-testing program.", which translates to no 4in1 multi-modules, and very limited options for modules in general. I sure hope the radio isn't that laggy in real life (probably not) lots of virtualization/emulation layers there lol) so it's annoying to use and I don't have the patience to continue messing around with it. The simulator is super laggy, not sure if it's the simulator itself or the computer it's running on (my Macbook Air M1 with Windows on ARM in Parallels. Logic Switches to Special Functions as with OpenTX, without having to back all the way out to the list and scroll over one. I do miss being able to press the page button and go from e.g.

I have messed around in the EthOS simulator a bit, and it seems to have everything I typically use aside from the Lua stuff. I know EthOS is similar to OpenTX in a lot of ways, but it's still a lot more simplified and graphic-based than I like.Īnd I also know that I'd probably be just fine with it (once Lua support is added, and Brain and Spirit make a script for integration), but still, I hate change.

I actually prefer the direct number, curve, variable manipulation and number based interface as opposed to dumbed down graphical based interfaces that other radios have (Futaba, Spektrum, etc). I know it won't happen, and I understand why FrSky won't allow it, but I just wish OpenTX would run on it. The last time FrSky tried to make their own OS it was an epic buggy disaster that was abandoned after only a short time, and I do not want to be part of it again if they bail on EthOS like they did FrOS (which has not received any updates since 2019). Hence I have waited so long before I even considered trying one. I do understand that it's probably a large part of how FrSky makes their radios so affordable with more features than radios from Futaba and Spektrum and Jeti that cost 300-400% more, but idk. While I do like and appreciate that FrSky is directly communicating with customers and adding features per request, I do not like when large companies with more than enough money and resources to do R&D in-house opt for customer based beta testing. I understand that at this point EthOS is mostly stable and most people have no issues, but it's still very much a case of FrSky using their customers as beta testers, especially with upcoming major updates (Lua, etc). Well the main issue is I don't like being a beta tester with my radio equipment.
